Freja Kir designs, curates, researches, and collaborates across intersections of artistic platform -and media environments. Freja co-directs the graphic design platform fanfare together with Miquel Hervás Gómez. fanfare explores contemporary views on graphic design as a medium for visual imagery, strategic displays and seducing linguistics. Through annual chapters fanfare initiate the network hybrid fanfare inc.. With a modular programme, the project measures and reacts to adaptive conditions of creative work and network. fanfare inc. has been presented in various contexts including the Biennial for Graphic design in BRNO, Chaumont Design Festival, Libros Mutantes, Manifesta Biennial Palermo, and ALT_CPH.
Focusing on conditions of creative infrastructures, Freja co-runs the conversational series, tetatet, with writer and researcher Charlie Clemoes and occasionally explores narratives of printed collections such as Wat nu, Kotsier through the collaborative research initiative Chives Archives.
From 2015 and onwards, Freja has conducted workshops, mentor programmes, and presentations at De Appel Amsterdam, IED Madrid, Eindhoven Design Academie, Gerrit Rietveld Academie, and the Sandberg Instituut, Amsterdam. Freja holds a Graphic Design degree from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and obtained her Research MA in Media Studies from the University of Amsterdam and a MSc from the Information Technology university in Copenhagen. Currently, Freja is brewing cider with Paolo Patelli for the occasional, Parasite Diners, and researching Platform Imaginations at the Media and Architecture department of the London School of Film, Media and Design.
